The CBV story has parallels with many innovative family businesses in Australia.
"The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them."
Fine grass raised cattle at CBV
Working closely with leading edge technology and science, and utilizing their energy and ambition to really make a difference to their terms of trade, all family members expended a huge effort in time, energy and intellect to develop the CBV herd. The cattle that Alf Sr took to Belah Valley in 1981 reflected many of the traits that his father had the courage and foresight to develop from 1956. Brahman cattle were definitely not acceptable to mainstream cattlemen at that time, but it sure made sense to develop these amazing adapted cattle to Jarvis Collins Sr in the 1950’s.
